Attending Business Conferences: Execute Like a Pro

By George Parker You have identified an interesting business conference that you want to attend. Perhaps you have based your decision to attend on the potential of the conference to further your companys marketing goals. You have even taken the step of developing a detailed plan for yourself to use at the conference. How do you make sure that you execute your plan in a way that will deliver outstanding results? Follow these simple tips to achieve your conference goals and get the greatest value from your next business conference. Review your plan daily. From the plans that you created prior to the conference that identify who you want to see, what sessions you want to attend and what social events to go to, make a short plan for the upcoming day. That plan should have the specific people you want to look for and the specific events you want to attend that day. If you have unfinished items you had planned for the prior day, consider incorporating one or more of those items into the upcoming days plan. Go into your networking mode. Try to mix it up by visiting with acquaintances and meeting lots of new people. Keep your plan in mind when meeting new people, but allow for flexibility. Some of the best contacts are people that you meet by chance. When you do meet or visit with helpful people, make sure that you cover some of the topics that advance your plan. Also make sure to contribute information helpful to them. Carry ample business cards and wear your name tag. When you collect cards from people that you meet, make notes on the back of their cards regarding your discussions. Include any required follow-up actions. When you attend workshops or panel discussions, afterwards introduce yourself to the speakers. Take time to thank them for their helpful information and to ask any follow-up questions you might have. If possible, exchange business cards so that you can contact them later or send them thank you notes. Actively participate. Attend as many workshops and sessions as you can, particularly those that will help you to advance your conference plan. Remember, you are there to achieve certain goals and that requires focused effort. When you are not in workshops or other sessions, concentrate on networking and meeting with attendees on your list. While in sessions, jot down helpful ideas, things you can act upon and on follow-up questions. If given the opportunity, ask questions of speakers and panelists. If you really want to increase your professional and company exposure, consider participating on a panel or in a workshop as a speaker. Remember to have fun. Even though you will be working and need to stay focused, plan on having fun while you do so. Some fun events might include excursions, boat rides, entertainment activities or dinners. Take these moments to relax and to get to know others on a more informal basis. Make sure that you stay rested and get sufficient sleep. Avoid late night drinking sessions. You will want to stay fresh to continue executing your plan the next day. If you follow these simple tips, you will ensure that you realize greater value from your next business conference. You will meet more people, uncover more opportunities and gather more useful information in the process. By Susan Wise You can read some of the best marriage counseling books in the world and try to work out your own troubles, but sometimes you just need outside help with marriage problems. There is no shame in seeking professional help with marriage problems by hiring a counselor or therapist. A third party who is not vested in your relationship can provide great insight and support into the dynamics of your marriage. Its those pesky emotions that can get in the way of working through your troubles. Feelings of anger, anxiety, depression and more can crop up and obscure your efforts which do not help with marriage problems. The role of a marriage counselor involves clearing those clouds so that you can concentrate on the problem at hand without becoming overly emotional. The role of the counselor is also like that of a cheerleader. When you need help with marriage problems and get discouraged, it is not hard for your spouse to become despondent over the lack of progress and become discouraged as well. That third party cheerleader who is in your corner can definitely help with marriage problems by boosting your morale to get your through those rough spots. A counselor will always help you realize that help with marriage problems means that you are committed to making your marriage work. Another way that a counselor can help with marriage problems is to help you devise creative solutions and strategies tailored to your particular experiences. Sure, quite a few couples run into the same type of problems money woes, infidelity, lack of libido, etc. but it is the personalities and family dynamic in the household that is unique and dictates special help with marriage problems. Your marriage counselor should be able to provide testimonials of previous appointments as references. If you are not sure of where to go find help with marriage problems, try looking in the yellow pages. Just be prepared to find a needle in a hay stack. There may be a ton of therapists just waiting to help with marriage problems. If you need to narrow down your selections, try and ask some of the contact people in your network of family and friends. You know someone in your family has sought the help of an outsider. Find out who they hired to help with marriage problems. Other sources where you can get references for counselors to help with marriage problems include your local college, your minister or priest, the Better Business Bureau and even the Chamber of Commerce. Your local, county or state government may also have organizations that specialize in various counseling services including help with marriage problems. It all boils down to the resources you have on hand. If you have some expendable cash, an independent marriage counselor who can help with marriage problems would be ideal. And if you are a little low on funds, check with your health insurance company. Sometimes they help with marriage problems by covering a few initial sessions as part of their mental health clause. If you trust the clergymen at your church, make an appointment and seek guidance with them. You have a number of options available to you you just have to make that first appointment. Writing a Powerful Personal Ad

By Vittorio Norman Think of something crazy. Think of something insane. Think of some outrageous line you heard somewhere that you would have a hard time forgetting. Think of something negative and put it in a positive context. Think of what the typical guy does and make sure you avoid it. Think of what you really want and don’t be afraid if it sounds a bit selfish. These are all ways to get your personal ad rolling. You want to capture your audience (women) with samples of the best scenes and the best footage of your life, in a brief preview known as your personal ad. The creation of the ad is a combination of knowing what’s out there, and therefore what to avoid, basic psychology understanding, and a mannerism which is distinct enough to connect with a percentage of women out there. Curiosity, anger, intrigue, and a happy ending are powerful emotions to generate for the reader. What are your controversial thoughts? Write them down. Now choose a way to combine all of these things in a style that has punch. Look at popular magazine or newspaper articles for examples of writing styles that work well. Elicit what makes you tick and then proceed to write a monster. Copyright 2006 Vittorio Norman Vittorio Norman provides a step-by-step guide for meeting women online, in his latest ebook. Mainstream Media Silent As 160 Children Die

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mark_Yarnell] Mark Yarnell Did you know that during the 1990s according to IMS Health, a national prescription-auditing firm, Ritalin and similar drugs for ADD rose five-fold to nearly 20 million prescriptions? Did you know that almost all the Ritalin manufactured in the world is sold in the United States? Does that mean that our kids are the only ones with attention deficit disorder in the whole wide world? As a concerned parent, entrepreneur and North American citizen, Ive been puzzled by all the tests that show American students are falling behind the rest of the world in the core learning skills needed for professional and academic success. So when I read the following quote from a noted expert, I thought I should pass it along to the 95% of all Americans who dont have time to read one book a year. Michael R. LeGault is an award winning editor and columnist for the Washington Times and consultant to major U.S. companies on health, safety, and environment. The quote is found on page 94 of THINK. The pharmaceuticals used to treat the growing number of mental and psychological disorders are themselves the basis of a multi-billion-dollar industry. Even the schools get a piece of the action, with many school districts collecting extra funds called bounties, for each student diagnosed with a specific learning disability. Since I havent seen this information in the mainstream media I just thought other common folks like me would find it interesting that major drug companies are paying bounties to schools who put young students on a Schedule II controlled substance. By the way, the Drug Enforcement Agency classifies Ritalin together with the narcotics heroin and cocaine. So, why is all this important to me, Mark Yarnell, a simple Network Marketing guy from the backwoods of Missouri? Because if common people like us dont start paying attention to reality, and the media doesnt start reporting socially relevant issues, the American Dream is going to morph into a full blown nightmare. Im sorry that Anna Nicole Smith died this week. But Im particularly sorry that according to the FDA, 160 kids have died over the last few years from reactions to Ritalin. Ive missed that story in the media. I realize that the deaths of over 150 children during a few years is not as newsworthy as the sudden death of one really pretty celebrity. But Id like to see a pharmaceutical industry spokesperson on Larry King Live explaining to America how they can legally pay bounties to schools to diagnose and then administer a Class II addictive drug to our children. I have this image of school McNurses dressed up like clowns carrying trays of Happy Meds to first graders. I also think an FDA spokesperson on Larry King should have to answer one simple question: Even if kids werent dying from Ritalin, is it ethical for schools to be paid overrides to moonlight as drug pushers while Network Marketers are prohibited from telling the truth about non-invasive supplements? Id like to see big pharma put lipstick on this pig. Surely, one of their 600 plus lobbyists is articulate enough to address the matter. At the very least, Id like to see a responsible media organization force the issue, before some special internet group lobbies Congress to replace the Star Spangled Banner with the soundtrack to One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest. Personal Loans: Fit For All Purpose

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ruth_Stanhop]Ruth Stanhop If you are looking for a loan which you can use for any of your personal purpose then a Personal Loan will be ideal for you. When you apply for a personal loan you do not have to show any reason for it but you can use it for any of your personal requirement. Thus a personal loan gives you the freedom to use it for any of the following personal needs like: Making an improvement of your house Buying the car of your choice Going out for an exotic holiday Financing your education Getting a medical surgery done Consolidating your debts [http://personal-loan.loans-bazaar.co.uk]Personal loans can be secured and unsecured. The rate of interest on secured personal loan is lower than the rate on unsecured personal loan. This is because a secured personal loan is less risky from the point of view of the lender as it is offered against collateral. Except that a Secured Personal Loan provides you other benefits like big amount, small monthly repayment, long loan period etc. An Unsecured Personal Loan does not necessitate collateral. This fact puts the lender at high risk. So he charges a comparatively high rate of interest. But it is not true to all the lenders. You may find out lenders who will be ready to offer unsecured personal loan at low rate. It has other benefits like fast processing, less paper work and quick money lending. You can avail a personal loan with your poor credit record even. But to get a bad credit personal loan with favourable terms you may have to research, shop around and make comparisons. How To Save A Marriage Through Communication

By Tri Bros Broda Communication is the catalyst in relationships. Be it family relationships, friendships, or romantic relationships, not only is communication the engine of all human transactions, it is also the lubricant that enables people to connect, and remain connected, with each other. If youve noticed, the breakdown of a marriage starts when a spouse no longer tells the other what is happening to him or her, what his or her thoughts are, and whether there are some issues that need to be resolved. Typically, a divorce starts with one or both spouses clamming up. Once communication is shut down, the process of marital disintegration is set in motion. The root of an affair is exactly that: communication breakdown. I am a firm believer that quite a number of couples who divorce still love each other. The only problem is that the communication between them has broken down to the point that either one is apprehensive of rejection, or pride makes them want to keep giving each other the cold shoulder. Because of this emotional climate in the marriage, either one of the couple may seek a friendship or a shoulder to cry on. And this is the usual storyline of most affairs. Dissatisfaction in the relationship leads one party to go out and seek escape, solace, or even merely a listening ear in someone else. Which could eventually lead to a dangerous liaison simply because the hurting party was too vulnerable at that time. This emotional vulnerability is the one thing that will make an otherwise committed spouse risk his or her marriage in favor of temporary thrills. So how exactly do we avoid communication breakdowns in our marriages? Relationships need work and commitment, and its a daily dying to self. By this I mean that we have to make sacrifices to keep the marriage working. But if you love your spouse, making things work will not be too difficult. You only have to nurture the relationship and each other, and make sure that you connect on a daily basis. Below are a few suggestions on how to connect: Talk often.Do things together as often as you can. You can take walks together to get in exercise, or you can do chores together.Practice being comfortable in silence. Silences could become the most intimate parts of your relationship. This is when you could just savor the presence of each other without feeling the pressure to communicate verbally. Touch is the most healing of all human (nonverbal) communications, and it would really nurture your relationship if you touch often. Aside from these practices that will nourish your relationship, make sure that you deal with your problems and issues as they arise. Nothing kills a relationship faster than wounds that have been allowed to fester. Never let offenses accumulate and turn into anger and resentment. And lastly, enjoy each other. If you need help to enjoy each other again, then seek it. Counseling and marital therapists abound and they really help in teaching you tools how to handle relationships. And dont forget reading up on self-help, like these resources from us. Knowledge could go a long way in cheat-proofing your marriage. Your Wedding, Your Way

By Karla Ruzycki-Davis Now that the wedding date has been selected, are your Parents, in-laws and friends driving you crazy? For most couples, their wedding day is something to remember, cherish and reminisce about. For others, it strikes feelings of disappointment and regret, not because of whom they married, rather the details of their big day. I highly urge all couples to go for what they want, and not be persuaded by others providing their two cents. Here are some things to consider as you plan you magical day…. Unfortunately, I know first hand how important it is to choose what you truly want and not settle. As a new bride myself, I can’t stress enough the importance of really doing what YOU love for your wedding. Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the most fun, memorable and important days of your life. Make sure what you’re planning is as much for you as it is for those attending it. Many brides get caught up in pleasing their family and friends, which can later lead to anger, frustration and disappointment. Here are some tips so that you don’t let it happen to you! 1. Choose a location YOU love-Many brides get caught up in doing what others will like, I know, I am one of them! I dreamed of having a beach wedding in Florida where we now live, but ended up having an outdoor wedding in Toronto where I am from. Why? Because many key family members told me they couldn’t afford the flight or get time off work. So, I opted for the next best thing. That next best thing’ has lived to haunt me a bit. Our wedding was lovely and it was still outdoors so I can’t complain. We also tried to create a minor beach theme at the reception with shells, sand, candles and the like but it wasn’t the same thing. In hindsight I should have done the beach wedding. If people cannot make it, they have to understand that that was their choice, we can’t please everyone. 2. Adore your Dress- Okay, so that $3,000 dress you have been eyeing in the magazines isn’t going to fit your budget. Whatever your budget is, make sure you love your dress. You’ll be wearing it in every photo and it is the most special dress you will ever wear. There are lots of great options off the rack’ which simply are dresses in a particular size that don’t have to be ordered but are selected off of a rack. Try on different styles, colors and designs. What I thought I would wear looked far different on me and was not complimentary. Variety is best here. Know exactly what type of detail you like on dresses. Are you traditional? Do you like simplicity? I can’t stress enough to try on as many dresses as you can in different shops until you find the one. This is kind of like shopping for a house, you don’t know what is out there until you look. Don’t be like me and buy the second dress you try on in one store. (I thought it was the one only because it looked good and it was 65% off, now every time I look at my photos I wish I had chosen something else. Thankfully, I did choose the right HUSBAND however! )Make sure that the dress captures who you are and what you love. 3. Bridesmaids Gowns-This is a touchy subject. Most brides struggle between having the girls wear what they have selected and allowing them to choose so they aren’t cursing you on the wedding day. Let’s remember that the wedding is about you and your fiance. Guess what? That means you have the freedom to choose what works best for your wedding. Perhaps you can provide the ladies with 6 or 7 options of colors and styles that you like. I rounded everyone up and we went to the bridal boutique. I knew the colors I wanted in the wedding. In the end, the color I chose looked great on all 3 girls. I did let them try on several styles so that we could agree on one dress. They all had different favorites however in the end I chose a halter style, which was opposite to what I was going to be wearing. This is the only day you get to pick everything-go for it! 4. Parents & In-laws- Just because our parents have raised us since little girls does not give them the right to plan out our wedding, unless we desire that. Your parents might tell you it is there way or the highway since they are paying. You and your fianc have to decide if you are willing to have a wedding that is not yours but paid for, or one that is all your own where you foot the bill. Remember when the wedding is paid for it usually involves inviting several people that you won’t know, as they are family friends. Ask yourself if you are okay with that. I was fortunate not to be in this situation, however I had the opposite scenario where none of my family helped with the planning process which was equally as annoying! I did receive some financial support which came in handy but planning it all on my own with some execution from my bridesmaids was super stressful. Talk with your fianc and decide what you want before the planning begins. If in-laws to be and your own parents get crazy, let them know you’d like to plan it on your own. Then, get your closest friends together to pitch in. 5. The Date- If you have already picked a date and have realized it is too far out or worse, coming up quickly and you feel overwhelmed simply change the date. Personally my fianc and I lived in different countries so we were going for a wedding 3.5 months after the proposal. It was very overwhelming but we made that decision as to not continue being apart. I look back and wish I had had more time but under the circumstances we made the best choice. Whether can be a determining factor too, fall in Toronto can be beautiful but cold, so since we got engaged in May I had to draw the line at September lest my guests freeze outside. Consider weather, season, holiday dates and of course how elaborate the wedding will be. If you are having a simple wedding, a few months is realistic. If it is more elaborate involving an outdoor venue etc..I suggest giving yourself somewhere between 6-12 months to plan. Even with a wedding coordinator, it is still you that selects all the colors, flowers, centerpieces, ideas, venue etc. They simply just co-ordinate it all for you. 6. Fabulous Flowers-You can save money buy buying realistic looking artificial flowers that won’t wilt. Not only will they look perky in every picture but they can be kept afterwards. You could choose to have a real bridal bouquet and let the groomsmen, bridesmaids and other attendants wear the faux flowers. Once you start shopping you’ll see that flowers are very expensive. I would suggest one other thing-make sure they are what YOU love. Don’t skimp and buy carnations on the cheap. My ladies and I had beautiful bouquets but mine wasn’t what I ultimately wanted. I desired pale pink peonies which were out of season. I wasn’t about to change the wedding date for flowers but some people will opt to have them flown in at a premium. Remember, they will be in most of your photos and you have to carry the bouquet all day. 7. Cost is Key- If you start out planning a $20,000 wedding and it quickly balloons to $40,000 you will be frustrated and frantic. My husband and I decided on a budget that we edited a few times to include everything we wanted but it was all done on a budget. Whatever you do, negotiate! We saved several thousand dollars because we negotiated hard on the price of the venue and food. That allowed us more money for other items like flowers and the cake etc. Here is a tip-we saved several hundred dollars by getting a fake cake bottom with real top. This sounds strange but it looks just like a custom made cake but only the top portion is real. We were still able to cut the cake and feed it to each other and keep it for our first anniversary, we simply just didn’t serve it to our guests. Nobody missed out since we served a wonderful dessert with dinner and had a sweet table filled with fruits, sweets and chocolates. I can be a waste of money too-how man desserts can one person eat. The cake often gets left uneaten anyhow. We clipped the stems from real pale pink roses and stuck them in the top of the cake and pressed them into the sides of the other two layers, which looked gorgeous. Just have someone return the fake cake bottom for you. One thing it true I will assure you, if you go beyond your budget you will feel strapped for money after the honeymoon, you’ll be fighting over money and over who let the wedding amount climb so high. These are all very non-romantic things to worry about later. After the big day is over you don’t want to be left with months or years of debt. This is not a fun way to start your life together. I hope you found these suggestions informative. I included my personal input as I wished I had had someone share some of these tips with me. Even though I wasn’t successful in every element, one thing is for sure-I did choose the right man whom I adore and cherish! He (Paul) now officiates awesome, creative weddings for couples in the Central Florida and surrounding area. Visit his site at http://www.itietheknot.com/. I think it goes without saying that no matter the size of the wedding, who is there or what your cake looks like-DO MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON! One day of fun does not make up for a lifetime of unhappiness. Be joyful and enjoy the planning as much as the end result. Enjoy the journey as much as you do the destination! Diagnosis and Treatments of Cerebral Palsy

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Barry_Hynes] Barry Hynes Before a child can be appropriately diagnosed with cerebral palsy, their doctor must first have to look closely at both the child and the mothers medical background to see if there are any known causes of cerebral palsy present in the case. The doctor will very carefully check the baby’s motor skills and the reflexes, and then will be tested by a physician, also they will try to determine the Childs hand preference often a child with cerebral palsy will use the hand that is not always the most practical to them due to the fact that depending on the brain damage one side of the body will be much stronger than the other side that is affected. When cerebral palsy has been diagnosed doctors may go on to do x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, ct scans and MRI, to determine the possible cause or causes of the cp. Here are just some of the signs that may be present in a child with suspected cerebral palsy: Weakness, early hand preference, abnormal postures, irritability, feeding difficulties, delayed or impaired speech, excessive or feeble crying, slow to gain weight, very slow or failure to develop motor skills. Cerebral Palsy – Treatments and Alternative Approaches When a child has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy they will generally need different types of treatment. Physical therapy – this will help to build up the strength of the Childs muscles working on their walking and keeping their balance. Speech-language pathology-this is to help the child learn to communicate mainly working on trying to teach the child to talk. Occupational therapy-this is to help the child with skills they need for everyday living to give them some independence like feeding themselves and dressing. There are also some alternative therapies that can help to control and manage the condition. Conductive education – This is to help the child become more independent. Their day will be planned out with physiotherapists, speech therapists and what is called their conductor who will oversee all the tasks to see day to day how the child is progressing and set new more tasks for them, which when achieved will increase the Childs self-esteem. The conductor will form a very close bond with the child, which is vitally important for how successful this treatment will be. The conductor will look at the child not the special need and help to bring out the Childs personality and use their interests to help them learn and achieve more. The Bobath concept – This concentrates on helping the child physically using play to increase muscle control, improve the Childs posture and reduce stiffness. The therapist involved in this use key points of the body when handling the child at all times. This can greatly improve the Childs mobility. Patterning – This works on teaching the undamaged parts of the brain to takeover what the damaged part should be doing. This is quite an intense therapy for the child as rhythmic stimulation is used on the limbs for up to eight hours a day to help the child gain complete balance and control of their movements which may distress the child greatly and is very time consuming for the parents. Atheists and Christians Debate

By Lance Winslow Coffee Shops are the place to chat and talk and recently a common place for Christians to meet too. Recently I got interested in a chat between two people one who went by the nick-name Knuckle and the others name was Debbie. Debbie was a Christian, sincere and sweet and Knuckle was apparently an atheist. When Knuckle told Debbie there was no god, she flipped out and went into a tirade about Knuckle being basically and idiot, scoundrel and generally lacking cranial capacity; that is to say intelligence. Debbie agreed about DNA and Knuckle thought he was winning the argument when Debbie called him a horses ass and unintelligent. So I interjected to say that DNA shows that intelligence seems to be 50/50% nature vs. nurture and so God if he is intelligent and designed us in his image, then he must be a fat overweight American. No, just kidding. Now then, assuming for a minute a little Sci Fi Fantasy that god exists, then God would only account for 50% of Knuckles intelligence, thus it appears that it really makes not a lot of difference as long as your god of intelligent design gave him some, he would get the rest afterwards. Now then if Intelligent Design is not the case then God is dumb, that is to say unintelligent. Meaning if you Debbie are made in his image minus a penis and that extra rib thing, then actually god did not give you or knuckle any brains so then where did you get them? Well, evolution has adapted homo sapiens to have larger brains than our next nearest cousins which we split off from about 1 million years ago as we are 99% DNA similar you see? So as far as calling Knuckle unintelligent because god gave him few brains, well scientifically that makes no sense. And if a god was going around giving humans inferior brains why on earth would you wish to follow such a loose cannon who would pick and choose who gets what? I just laughed and walked out figuring maybe they would all just shut up and stop fighting over this thing. Consider this in 2006. “Lance Winslow” – Online Think Tank forum board. How Is Your Cash Flow and How Factoring Can Help!

By Mark Little How did your company do this month with the cash flow? Why not let the question go; how has your cash flow been this year? Did you sweat it out worrying you might not make payroll, get that vendor off your back, pay that tax bill that was due and it was a lot more than you expected? For those of you that have a line of credit, did you get close to maxing out your line and have concerns that your line of credit is no longer an adequate facility. For those of you that use your personal money or credit cards to fund your cash flow, did you have moments you thought about getting a loan or a line of credit from the bank because the pressure is mounting, but you still are unable to get the banks to lend to the money. For those of you that have been sailing on smooth waters lately but you can see the approaching storm over the horizon and you dread approaching your bank again for an increase because they complained the last time because your growth is heavily centered around accounts receivables and they are getting uncomfortable. Well, you may say that the checks seem to always come in the mail just in time to get you over the hump. I say, just keep throwing the dice, the numbers will not come up one day if you keep pushing your luck! I could obviously continue with the examples but you get the point. The fact of the matter is that Factoring could be your solution for these and most scenarios when it comes to inadequate cash flow. Get informed about this form of finance and spread the word to your business associates. It could be what they are looking for also! Mark Little is President of Diversified Funding Services, Inc.
